About Me

Hello and thank you for stopping by.

I am a self-taught mixed media, collage and assemblage artist and instructor.  My passions include altering books, journals, canvases, tins and just about any media that I find myself drawn to.

I was raised in a very creative household.  My mom is a traditional artist, my sister creates beautiful garden landscapes and fountains, my dad was our artist in the kitchen and I kind of like to think of myself as the rebel of the family.  The one who has stepped outside of the box.....who has colored outside of the lines and found that the art I create is freeing, beautiful and appealing too.

I have been fortunate enough to have the support and love of a wonderful man, my husband Tom.  Of course if you have taken lessons from me you more than likely know him as Mr. Lesley and he is not only my support system but a wonderful baker and cook.  He is a true sweetie and my hero in more ways than one.

I have taught online workshops and have taught at Art Is You in Cromwell, Connecticut and Art & Soul in Hampton, Virginia.  I am currently scheduled to teach at Mixed Media Melange in LaGrange, Tennessee in September, Art & Soul in Portland in September and The Fernery in May, 2010.  I truly believe that art retreats offer an experience and a way to connect with like minded souls that you cannot experience elsewhere.  That being said I also love that more artists are teaching via the internet so that those unable to attend retreats have a way to feel the excitement that art classes always offer.

My art has been published in the Artitude Zine, Somerset Gallery, Somerset Weddings and PORCH.  Our book is finally published!  Please look for Exploring the Latest Trends in Mixed Media at Amazon now and I am always looking for other opportunities to submit my art for publication.

I blog almost on a daily basis at www.flatwoodsfolkart.typepad.com and I work at my 'necessary" job (you know the one that pays the mortgage) during the day and create art in the evenings or on the weekends.

Please check back frequently as I feather this new nest and fill it with my artistic expressions as well as other items to tickle your fancy.  Please give kudos to Mr. Lesley as he has been working hard to help me with setting the site up and learning all about the running of a website.

Thank you all for your continued support.  You are all blessings to me.

xo,

Lesley
